Jason Stevens plays Rugby League with the
Cronulla Sharks and has represented NSW and Australia on many
occasions in a game described as the toughest of all. With size,
strength and skills, Jason has established himself as one of the
premier front row forwards in the world.
Off the field, Jason is known for his
contributions to many worthwhile charities, however in recent
years he has become a bold witness for Jesus Christ.
There was a time however when Jason preferred
to go along with what everybody else said and did in order to
be part of the 'in crowd'.

"Growing up left me with many insecurities
about myself. Despite having a great mother who went all out to
love me, I had little self confidence. I would often joke about
myself to my friends in order to save myself the embarrassment
of them making fun of me. I fell into the trap of saying and doing
things to gain acceptance from my friends. I thought that me being
myself wasn't good enough."
As I began to play football and reach
high levels this trend continued. I found that my self confidence
came from how my coaches saw me as a footballer and how many pretty
girls I could date. Like everybody I wanted to feel important
and valued. In reality I was being pulled in different directions
in order to please the crowd I was with.
It was only when I experienced God's
love for me, by inviting Jesus to live in my heart that I began
to see who I was created to be and how important I was to Him.
No matter what has happened in the past,
you can choose a good life. Sometimes it's hard to make the best
choice because of fear of what people around you think. But if
they really cared they would want what's best for you. Plus no
matter what choice you make they're going to talk about you anyway.
The best decision I ever made was to give Jesus the keys to my
life so He could fulfill my dreams and help me to lead a life
that's worth living and that I'm proud of!
